The LIGHTSOUND Project is a regional project running over a period of three years, revolving around the development of businesses, knowledge and learning. The main purpose of the project is to boost and brand the Capital Region of Denmark and Region Zealand as innovative and creative centres of growth and experience.

The project will motivate and provide small businesses with new competences and opportunities to develop beyond a local level.

This is done by creating new connections and alliances between creative businesses, artists and the business- , cultural-, and urban planning departments in the municipalities.

22 urban space projects.

During the 22 specific urban space projects and events, the participating companies and municipalities are called upon to take part in innovative connections between business, culture and urban planning.

This will happen during a practical course of developing competences, thus strengthening the conditions of growth for knowledge based and creative enterprises.

Over the course of time, LIGHTSOUND aims to create the basis for interdisciplinary partnerships within the light, sound and new media sector, as well as paving the way to the establishment of an innovative and vocationally oriented Light and Sound Academy. The urban space projects are conceived as a significant, returning cultural event.

Innovative connections
Innovative connections between  business, art, and culture constitute the core of the experience economy – one of the most important areas of growth. The municipal business policies and strategies focus on the experience economy, as does the regional event strategy, aimed at attracting international focus to the capital region being regarded the most attractive metropolis in Northern Europe by 2015.

LIGHTSOUND wants to create exciting, lively urban spaces, through an innovative course, which will be attractive to new companies and talents from the various lines of business, increase citizen commitment and the local identity of the municipalities - and attracts tourists. The project will assist the municipalities in their efforts to strengthen and develop the framework agreements concerning creative businesses.

LIGHTSOUND is organized around four parallel strategies and focus areas:

• Knowledge and network strategy

• Urban planning strategy

• Event strategy

• Communication strategy
